Lucy and Sam’s wedding at Saint Ebbs Church and Lady Margret Hall in Oxford

We had a lot of fun photographing Lucy and Sam’s amazing wedding in Oxford. The weather was particularly spectacular for them and if anything, it was a bit too sunny for us! It was the hottest day of the year on record so far. It was also great seeing the Brewsters and Carters again too. It was especially lovely to see Ruth and Niall again.

Lucy got ready at the Parsonage Hotel in Oxford. There’s an open terrace upstairs, which was a perfect place to for a Granola breakfast and make up and the atmosphere there was very fun and excited. It’s a nice open area with lots of shade, although we chased the shade around a bit as the sun moved through the sky.
Her hair was beautifully curled by Lesley Montgomery. Makeup was attentively applied by Caoimhe. All of Lucy’s Bridesmaids, Alice, Ruth (who had a certain glow about her), Harriet, Jemma and little Alice all looked fabulous in their matching green dresses.
Soon their Minibus arrived and it was time for the girls to depart, not before a quick photo shoot in the garden though!
Lucy’s Morris Oxford arrived bang on time and after a few shots with her and Kevin, it was time to depart for the church. I followed close behind and took a few shots fo them in their car as they made their way to St Ebbes church.

Sam got ready at the Wycliffe Hall and walked down to St Ebbes Church in town, which offered Leanne a few great photo opportunities. St Ebbes is a great place for a wedding ceremony, it’s right in the centre of Oxford and very easy to get to.

The mood at St Ebbes was jubilant and very bubbly. The ceremony was very moving and well paced, a real sense of belonging and friendliness was quite apparent. It was quite hot in the church, which was to be expected….after all, it was the hottest day of the year! Once their vowels were said, rings exchanged and certificates signed, it was time for Lucy and Sam to walk down the aisle as a married couple! We had a short time for some quick photos and a blast of confetti in the church arch way before Lucy and Sam departed to the Lady Margret Hall for their private portraits and Reception.

Lucy and Sam’s private portraits went very well and so did their formal group shots. There wasn’t a lot of shade but we made good use of the best spot available. Everyone gathered for a group shot and their cake cutting, followed by the longest receiving line I’ve ever seen!  The mood was fun and light. There’s not many venues that can handle a guest list in the 250+ but the Lady Margret Hall had no problems seating and catering for than many people. The room reminded me of the food hall in Hogwarts! The wedding breakfast was great and Lucy and Sam split up their speeches in between courses, which worked very well. It was very hot in the hall, but the time flew past and was very jovial. Kevin’s speech was first and he was very witty, Sam gave his address next and he was really funny and obviously well versed at public speaking. But the real side splitter was Chris…a long but extremely funny speech, which Leanne tells me, he’d been rehearsing all day!

Soon , it was time to adjourn for coffee while the staff turned the room around for the evening cerebrations. It gave me a chance to catch up with some guests, shoot a few reportage shots and take a short rest before the Band started. Lucy and Sam had a short first dance but soon were surrounded by a mass of fiends and family dancing the night away! It was a really lovely day and one of the highlights of our wedding season so far! Blessed with great weather and great company!
