Sarah and Gary’s Grittleton House Wedding

We had a fantastic day photographing Sarah and Gary’s amazing wedding at Grittleton House in Chippenham. The weather was changeable, but seemed to favour our day. It rained during their service but  cleared up before we left St Mary’s church. It then shone for most of the day…right up until we finished their formals…and then it rained again, perfect timing! There was a lot of laughs through out their day and it was such a full wedding, at times we seemed to be tight for time. The whole day just flew past! Thankfully we covered everything and have some of our best work to date!

Sarah’s day started early with her hair and make up, which had already been done by the time I arrived, and Leanne went to Gary’s house in Chippenham to cover his preparations….eg down the pub for a few glasses of dutch courage! Sarah’s Preparations were at Mum and Dad’s house and was a busy place! Her Bridesmaids, Madeleine and Julie, looked fab in their matching Purple dresses and Gracie as her lovely flower girl. Michael was faffing about with his shirt and tie….and took longer to get ready than the girls did! Lol! Alan struggled with his cravat, so I took a few great shots of Michael helping. Soon it was time for Sarah to put her amazing dress on. I left the room and waited to be called back in, while hearing the three girls giggling as Sarah slipped into her dress. She looked stunning! We cleared the down stairs (sorry to move you out Howard) so that Sarah could have some space to fit her long veil and button up the back of her dress. Her car arrived for its first run of the day, a beautiful black over maroon Daimler 420 chauffeured by Peter of FunctionCars of Purton. To take the girls to St Mary’s church for the car’ first run of the day. Soon it was time for Alan to accompany his daughter to the church.

The weather was holding out for us at St Mary’s church. It’s a church that we know well, Angella was our Vicar today, Clive was on holiday. Every minister has a slightly different approach to a wedding and Angella’s sermon was very moving and very witty. There were a few tears as Gary and Sarah made their vowels and exchanged their rings. The area for signing of their register is a little tight for space, but serves it’s purpose well. There were a number of guests who were keen photographers, it’s nice to see Sony and Canon so well represented! At times, we struggled for position, so I sent Leanne to cover the back of the church to thin down our numbers. Before long, their service had concluded with a blessing and Sarah and Gary walked down the aisle together as a couple. Leanne covered their photographs as they exited St Mary’s church (I got caught up at the back) and we all arranged for some confetti throwing at the gates. This went well and was quite a flurry! The bells of St Mary’s were ringing as Sarah and Gary goting into their Daimler and departed to Grittleton House..sipping a glass or two of Champers.

Grittleton House is a fantastic venue to host a wedding reception, it’s has plenty of parking and it’s gardens to the right are very impressive and perfect for formal photographs. We let their guests and family mingle and socialise for a bit, some guest were still arriving. The we started to crack on with thier formals. We only had about 1/2 hour, so we split their formals into two halves and photographed the big group shots before their wedding breakfast at 17:00. Everything went to plan, although Howard managed to get himself moved a number of times! Sorry bud! Sarah and Gary met their guests in a receiving line as they entered their wedding breakfast and the room looked great! The staff at Grittleton House were very attentive and their service was excellent. Alan was up first to make his Father of the Bride’s speech. With a very warm and witty speech, followed by Gary’s speech. Phillip gave his very funny best man’s speech, who had a few cheeky comments that left Gary looking very red and his face buried in his hands! Nice one! Sarah and Gary cut their cake, which looked brilliant. After their wedding breakfast and speeches, it was time for their guests to adjourn to the Library for coffee and for use to finish their smaller formal group photographs. These went very well…along with a few wandering children with lion face masks appearing in the odd shot! How cute! We took Sarah and Gary off into the grounds for some private portraits and Leanne cleared the rear gardens of guest to give the couple some space…sorry to move you again Howard! These went exceptionally well and Sarah’s veil made for some very intimate photographs. Sarah and Gary then entered the library for their first dance together, accompanied by the Encore band…who were brilliant! Soon it was time for us to leave and let their guest party on into the night! We had a fantastic time photographing their wedding and we hope that we caught some of the great moments in our photos! It was great to meet so many lovely guests and family and we had a great time.
